Every 10 minutes, then back to sleep. Air temperature and humidity, the steel probe in the fruit, the ripening-gas sensor, shock, and the lid and light tamper switches.

Plain-English glossary
The few technical words you will meet on this site.
- Tag
- The sealed box on each pallet. It measures, signs and stores readings.
- Hub
- The box on the truck roof. It measures ripening gas, gets GPS, and uploads for the Tags inside.
- Signed
- Locked with a secret held inside a chip that can never be copied out. Anyone can check the lock, but only the chip can make it.
- Fingerprint (hash)
- A short code worked out from a reading. Change even one digit and the code changes completely.
- Tamper-proof record
- Readings joined in order, each carrying the fingerprint of the one before, so editing one breaks all the rest.
- Ethylene
- The gas fruit gives off as it ripens. Too much means the fruit is ageing too fast.
- Shelf life
- How many days the fruit stays good, worked out from every temperature it experienced.
- Mobile network / long-range radio
- How readings leave the truck: straight over the phone network, or by radio to the Hub when steel walls block the signal.
